Celebrating Fiona

Today we got to celebrate something we’ve been hoping and praying for for a very long time.

Today, Fiona happily took sip after sip from a juice box while we were out at a restaurant.

It may look like such a small thing, but for Fiona, it’s huge.

Because of an oral aversion to liquids, Fiona has depended on her G-tube for hydration her entire life. Drinking has never come easily, and we’ve spent years working toward moments like this. Seeing her choose to keep taking another sip-and then another-filled our hearts with so much joy.

These are the moments that remind us how much progress is possible with patience, hard work, and the incredible team of people who support her.

As we continue raising funds for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, moments like this give us even more hope for the future. Every new skill Fiona gains opens up more opportunities for her to experience the world, and having a vehicle that safely accommodates her wheelchair will make those experiences so much more accessible for our family.
