We leave tomorrow for Austin for our second functional neurology intensive!! This time we will only be there for one week instead of two but we have been doing a lot of work at home to prepare and make the most of the time we are there!
Last time we went his nervous system regulation improved, his chronic constipation completely resolved, and we came home empowered to help him in so many new ways!
In the last couple of months we have finished weaning Finn completely off two of his medications with the help of his neurologist here. This is huge progress that he is able to stay stable without the help of those!
They were needed for a time but like any medication, there are side effects, and the two he was taking suppressed brain function which of course is the opposite of our goal!
He has become much more alert and aware of us since weaning those two meds but it has also led to some increased irritability as his body gets used to this increased alertness.
This intensive this week should help in that area!
We are 28/40 sessions into HBOT! Finn is still handling it like a champ. We are already noticing little changes from this therapy and are excited to see more in the coming weeks.
It is making a huge difference in his awareness! His eye contact is improving and he is becoming more responsive to sounds around him.
His head/neck strength and control is also improving! We started some new goals in therapy this week and we were so surprised to see the strength he had that we didn’t even realize!
We have big plans for motor therapies, DMI therapy, and more in the coming months! As we wrap up HBOT and the functional neurology intensive we have assessments to make plans for these therapies. I can’t wait to share more as it gets finalized!
Night time sleep and his general mood are still pretty big struggles over here and that can feel defeating but seeing progress in other areas and also seeing how far he has come is really encouraging!
Staying hopeful always and grateful for allll of the love, prayers, and support!
