ANC is…………… 224 🎉

She is still snoozing, last night was rough, she woke up and vomitted and woke up many times having a terrible headache. We are switching up a few meds that she’s on to see if those are contributors to the headache. Hopefully switching these meds up help!! 

Like I mentioned, engraftment would be 3 days of an ANC of 500, but that doesn’t mean we get to go home after that. She still has many steps we would need to take in order to prepare her to go home. Right now she is reliant on a lot of IV meds and IV nutrition because her tummy has been so sensitive!! She will need to transition off the IV nutrition and IV medications and be able to take all meds (up to 15) via her NG tube as well as be able to handle her NG tube rates of 45… and we have barely got to 5 without vomitting. We will also need to be sure she isn’t needing frequent blood or platelet transfusions (these can still be needed as your body typically makes platelets last). And on top of all that we will need to have a hold on all GVHD (graft vs host disease) symptoms. Main symptoms are of the skin, gut, and kidneys. We actually want a tiny tiny bit of GVHD to show my cells are strong and can attack any remaining leukemia if there is any… but not too much as that can cause serious problems. 

Around day +30 they will test her bone marrow to confirm these cells that are growing are mine and not hers! We are hoping to see 100% moms cells in the bone marrow! 

The ANC is great news but we still have a lot that needs to happen in order to get home. Prayers for no more headaches, cells to keep growing, and her tummy to heal up to be able to handle the meds and feeds.
