2nd transplant update! Day +13
Blakely has been working hard on growing cells! Her body needed a little boost so we used a medication to help stimulate the stem cell production yesterday and TODAY she woke up with WHITE BLOOD CELLS & AN ANC OF 34!! The past few days she has been fevering off and on and developed a rash yesterday, we think she’s experiencing “engraftment syndrome” which is when your cells come in quickly! So we will hold off on more growth stimulation medication unless her body needs an extra boost. But the doctors are pleased!
Blakely has been feeling pretty crumby with the fevers, headaches, bone aches, tummy pain, mouth sores, and nausea. We know it’s all apart of the process but it’s hard seeing her feel so yucky.
Please keep praying for her health and strength. She needs to keep growing those WBC! She will be considered “engrafted”when she has an ANC of 500 for 3+ days. So we still have awhile to go! After engraftment comes more possible complications like GVHD. But we will deal with that when and if it comes. Today we are happy to see some white blood cells!! 👏🏼👏🏼
