Blakely’s ANC has been over 500 for 5 days now, she has officially ENGRAFTED. 🧡 Not only has she engrafted her stem cells but also platelets, as she hasn’t needed a transfusion in over a week. Which is amazing! Now we let her body recover and work towards the goals we need to accomplish before going home. HOME. A word we have dreamed about since the start of BMT. Being able to bring her home for good after all of this.. all she has been through.. it’s everything we have been praying for!

She is still dealing with a lot of nausea and headaches. We’ll need to get these under control before we can start switching her IV meds to oral as right now she can’t keep much down. Her tummy has been through so much, BMT alone does so much damage to the gut, but to go through 2 BMTs and additional tummy issues on top of that, it will take time. 

As we are so excited about the news of engraftment and the idea of working towards going home, she still has a long journey ahead of her, her body needs to continue to heal, and she will still be very immunocompromised for a year. And many more things beyond this, but for now we are taking things one day at a time.
