The last few weeks Blakely has been doing great but could now use some prayers! A few days ago Blakely was experiencing Urinary Tract Infection like symptoms. A urine test confirmed she not only has a bacterial UTI but BK virus was also detected in her urine. BK virus is a pretty common complication after a BMT, but can get very serious!! 

BK virus a very common virus most of us have contracted as kids that can become reactivated due to the patient's weakened immune system after transplant. Most people carry BK virus without symptoms as it remains dormant in the urinary tract. 

This has been extremely painful and exhausting as she isn’t able to sleep much due to pain and having to use the bathroom so frequently. Our doctors have prescribed her stronger pain meds to hopefully get her comfortable and we will start an IV treatment tomorrow to hopefully kick this thing in the butt quick!! 

We could use prayers for Blakely to feel more comfortable, pain to be managed, and the treatments to be effective yet gentle on her little body as they are very toxic to the Kidneys. 

Soon Blakely has her 5th of 6 round of chemo, first DLI treatment (more of my cells infused into her), her day +180 bone marrow aspirate, and removal of her Broviac central line coming up in the next 3 weeks. BUUUUT we have to get this UTI and BK virus under control to keep moving forward! 

Blakely definitely hasn’t been herself and it’s SO sad seeing her in so much pain. Savvy has been the best big sissy trying to comfort her. We appreciate all your love and prayers 🧡🫶🏼
