Emory Kelsay
Since his re-admission to the hospital, it’s been quite the rollercoaster. We’ve had multiple follow ups and lots of emotions.
Emory went back to the neurosurgeon last Wednesday with the hopes of having his cervical collar removed. Instead, we were told to keep it on and that he will likely need a cervical spine fusion and could be paralyzed with any wrong move.
This didn’t make sense to us, so we immediately called around and booked 2nd and 3rd (and even 4th) opinions.
Today, Emory had a 2nd opinion with Dr. Asadi and Hariharan at the Paley Institute. We were really impressed with their credentials, professionalism, and how thorough they were. Much to our surprise, they said that he does NOT need surgery and that he doesn’t even need to wear the collar anymore.
I almost cried. Emory was ear to ear smiles for the rest of the day.
Tomorrow we will drive to Hollywood for a 3rd opinion at Joe DiMaggio (since the opinions have been vastly different). We want to be sure we’re doing what is best and safest for Emory.
We have also had follow ups with ENT and he has been mostly cleared. Next is audiology.
We have a lot going on behind the scenes with planning and managing all the specialists visits, assessments, therapy assessments, and preparation for the possibility of back to school… more to come on all of that.
We just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the abundance of love, prayers, calls/texts, cards, gifts, and generosity you have provided to us through all of this. We truly couldn’t have gotten through this without all of you. THANK YOU ❤️❤️
With all of our love,
The Kelsay family
