Emmett’s Journey
We have officially settled back in from Emmett two week OT & PT intensive. In OT these past two weeks we worked on eye strengthen, strengthens Emmett’s grasp, using two hands together, and Emmett’s sensory regulation. Emmett loves his Ms. Cece and all the fun games she plays with him, which allowed him to make great progress. Emmett was rocking a lot before we went and Cece was able to work with Emmett on being comfortable with where is is in space. Emmett is also starting to put his hands down to help hold himself up, which is a huge milestone for him. Last but not least for an OT update, Emmett is starting to use his hands together on toys! The OT program at AKAP, has made a tremendous difference for Emmett, and we are beyond thankful to Cece (and now Annie) for all the hard work put in to help our little man.
For our PT update, Emmett’s goal for his intensive was to work on prop and independent sitting. Emmett primitive reflexes fight against him in holding himself up with his arms and without them. Emmett was able to make substantial progress with breaking through these reflexes in a way of assisted army and regular crawling! Emmett has also started to put his left hand down to hold himself in the sitting position! These are huge skills for Emmett that we will continue to build on. Emmett also tried low level laser therapy for one week of our intensive. The laser therapy allowed Emmett more emotional regulation and focus during his session. Emily and Rachel have been Emmett’s intensive therapist twice now for his intensive programs and the bond that he has made with them is amazing to see. These ladies encourage and support Emmett while also pushing him to accomplish huge goals! Thank you to all of the ladies at AKAP!
I was also able to meet some strong amazing moms during these two weeks. Sharing information, and being able to support each other was so helpful. I hope we all can stay in touch.
