More progress, more waiting

Hi friends and family,
My mom flew up Wednesday, 8/12, and is here until tomorrow, Thursday, 8/27. We've had a lot going on.
On Thursday, 8/13, we met with the plastic surgeon and talked through our surgical options, because regardless of if the cancer disappears or not, I have to have surgery. Right now, the plan is a two-stage surgery. After the first one, I will heal for 3-6 months and then have the second one.
On Tuesday, 8/18, we met with the oncologist and then I had my fourth immunotherapy infusion. Everything went smoothly and it was our shortest day yet.
On Thursday, 8/20, I had my MRI. These are torture for me. But, this time, I took enough of my prescribed medication to make it bearable. I think I even drifted off at one point. So that was a win. Later that day, images came out in my portal. Both my mom and aunt said the tumor appears to be gone or almost gone, but the biopsy results will tell us more.
On Tuesday, 8/25, it was time for my biopsy. In the car on the way over, I decided to check my portal to see if the MRI report was out yet. It was. It noted some residual tissue at the site of the tumor, but it's unclear if it's remaining cancer or just other tissue. That's what the biopsy is to determine. But the report also listed a new finding in my other breast. Needless to say, it was a rollercoaster of a day because of that. Ultimately, according to all my family and doctors, it seems to be a non-issue (we hope), and we are still talking to my surgeon about how we're going to handle it.
So now, it's just more waiting until we get the biopsy results, which I'm hoping will come out before the weekend. If the pathology results show cancer is still in that residual tissue, I will be starting chemotherapy weekly on 9/8. If the pathology results are negative for cancer, I will be having my first surgery on 9/16.
I'm feeling pretty on edge waiting for these results. I'm just trying to distract myself as much as possible.
In happy baby news, Leo is 8.5 months old (37 weeks today, to be exact) and he started crawling a couple weeks ago. He's also standing and cruising around holding on to furniture. Everything with him is so much fun. AND, he's in the running to be Baby of the Year! Voting is open to the public and begins on Monday, 8/31. :)Β
