Stand Up

Before we left for Texas this last time, Elijah had his stander fixed so it would be safe for him to use. Oddly it is a brand new stander but one of the parts was not doing its job right and had to be replaced for his safety. We had been waiting a long time for the stander and we were so excited to get it. We absolutely love the standard by Rifton and wouldn’t go any other way. Standing has so many benefits for kids like Elijah. It can help with lungs, his G.I. tract, his bone, health, circulation, and so much more. He grows stronger and stronger each day! Plus it gives him the chance to be upright like everyone else and look us all in the eye, have dance parties, and real hugs! Our goal is an hour a day in the stander and he is crushing it!

Our appeal to Medicaid has been filed. Waiting for them to agree on a court date. We also filed for reconsideration so they might not set a date until that and the peer-to-peer with his pediatrician is completed. We are also struggling to get in to see the specialists here so I have been a bit frustrated with our options. Hopefully we can get everything straightened out and things will stop feeling like a constant battle.

I received 3 bills from the lab draws from our last visit. Combined, these labs cost us around $1200. Add the cost of the visit with the doctor and his total was about $1500. This needs to occur roughly every 3-3.5 weeks. This stuff adds up fast. Any help we can get is so appreciated and to those who have donated, thank you does not feel like enough! You are helping save Elijah’s life and you will forever be apart of his amazing story. Thank you so much! We love yall!
