Second Duke trip

This week was a big week for Dana as she had a follow-up MRI and an appointment with the team at Duke.

In the words of her friend Katie, she basically aced the appointment and got an A+ on her health card.

What does it actually mean?

The Duke primary neuro-oncologist confirmed Dana's scan post-treatment looks even better than expected and said she's doing phenomenally well. Dana would not be doing as well as she is if it weren’t for the fact that she was already in great baseline health to start and has been staying physically and mentally active. She handled the chemo and radiation therapy extremely well and her body has healed tremendously

They confirmed 100% that she has unmethylated IDH-wildtype Glioblastoma based on the more comprehensive pathology results. They did provide an excellent option for an ongoing investigational clinical treatment that we'll need to think about (which would require us to fly to Duke once a month indefinitely) but we have about a month to decide if we want to participate. It sounds promising though.

Next week, Dana will head to CU for the next steps of treatment that they recommend, and then they’ll decide between CU or Duke.

If they go the Duke route, it will require more travel there, and sometimes for longer periods of time. While insurance will likely cover some of it, travel expenses will not be. Additional needs (meals, transportation, errands, childcare) will be posted  as they arise.

So, for now, Dana is doing the things that make her happy, and celebrating this win!
