After 50 days in patient we finally see light at the end of tunnel.

Since my last update we have been trying our best to stay optimistic and positive. They gave our son 7-10 days to show cell growth or prepare for a donor transplant. 

After 5 days he started showing some growth but it wasnt enough. By day 8 he finally broke into the hundreds! He has been up and down for the past couple days but the doctors are now confident that he is indeed growing his own cells and will eventually engraft on his own. 

Because he was given such a low quantity of viable cells, they predict it will take 3-6 more weeks for him to recover. This was another punch in the gut. We thought this entire therapy was only going to take 4 weeks, we are now looking at triple that timeline. 

Our son has been through so much pain and trauma and he continues to be strong and resilient, more than any baby should. We are extremely relived that he does not need a donor transplant. Although the doctors predicted he will take a long time to heal we all hope he proves them wrong.
