Last night didn’t go quite as planned…

Cruz had a pretty bad seizure that he was having a hard time coming out of, even with his rescue medicine. It lasted much longer than mama was comfortable with so we ended up calling 911 for help. Thankfully, he stabilized right as they were arriving to our home. I’m so grateful to now know they aren’t far from us and can get here quickly if we need them.

Since he was stable and we have extensive medical equipment at home to support him, we chose not to go to the hospital and called his doctor this morning instead. This is his second seizure in two weeks, which is a big increase for him. And last nights was longer than he’s ever had. Because of this, we’ll be adding another medicine to his regimen. Not ideal, but for now… it’s what’s needed to keep things under control until we can move forward with the stem cell therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapies we’re praying to be able to raise the funds for to start in the beginning of 2026.

Seizures take so much out of him. Not only do they always come at night, but they’re so hard on his little brain and body. He usually crashes right after, while I lay wide awake watching him, staring at his monitor and listening to every breath. My adrenaline keeps me up for hours, because honestly, one of my greatest fears is losing him to a seizure in the middle of the night. It’s also one of the hardest places for me to fully surrender my worries to God.

But today… he’s better! Back to his cheeky little self, like our bedroom wasn’t just turned upside down and transformed into a hospital in the middle of the night. And for that, I’m so, so thankful. 🙏🏻
