Cody is currently on Day +4 of his second stem cell transplant. His mucositis has started, but thankfully it’s not as severe as it was after his first transplant. Overall, his pain is a bit higher than last time, but it’s being managed well with his PCA morphine pump.

We are supporting his recovery with red light therapy and castor oil packs over his liver to help with detox from the chemo and reduce inflammation. Cody has stopped eating and drinking, so he’s receiving all of his nutrition through TPN. For the next 4–7 days, his only job is to rest while we care for him, and he’s ready for this.

In fact, in his own wise words, he said: “Mommy, I am going to get really sick, but I can do hard things. You and Daddy will be with me. And God.” Truly, for a 3-year-old, that’s incredible strength and courage. He amazes us every day.

We ask for your prayers specifically for Cody’s liver and organs. One of the major risks after a stem cell transplant is VOD (veno-occlusive disease), where the liver’s small veins can get blocked, and TMA (thrombotic microangiopathy), which can cause organ damage due to tiny blood clots. Both can be life-threatening. The second transplant carries about a 30% risk of one or both occurring, so we are asking for prayers that Cody’s organs stay healthy and strong.

We are so grateful to everyone who has brought meals, sent DoorDash donations, or simply sent love and encouragement. The first 12 days have been strong, but we are entering a very challenging phase over the next 10 days. We hope to be home around Day +30.
