Cody and Annie Thibault
Today started out with some pretty defeating news; it didn’t seem like Annie’s intestine has not woken up yet, and that they might have to push back taking the NG tube (or noodle as Emmy likes to call it) out another day. By now she has next to no voice, visibly cringes every time she swallows, and is sore from not being able to move her head. The NP came back in and told us that they decided to do a CT scan on her to see what things were looking like internally. We had to wait about an hour afterwards to get the preliminary results and it was a bit of a mixed bag. They found out that her GI tract looked really good, but they found a blood clot in her liver. Apparently the side effects of this would account for the symptoms Annie has been going through and causing inflammation. The doctor wasn’t worried about the blood clot since they caught it and seemed relieved that they found the root cause of what’s been going on. She was so confident that she started the trial to get rid of the NG tube. It was an 8 hour on and off suction of the tube to test how her body would respond to it being out and FINALLY! At 1am she passed and they were able to take the tube out! It was instant relief and a huge step in the right direction!
