Christian, the Blouir family
While we still donβt have all of Christianβs biopsy results, some of the results have started coming back. At this point, the doctors are fairly certain that his brain tumor is a type of glioma. We are still waiting on the final pathology, which the doctors expect could take another 3β5 days.
Radiation treatment is scheduled to begin this Friday. Christian will receive radiation Monday through Friday for six weeks. Once we have the complete biopsy results, his doctors will be able to better determine what treatment options are available and what the next steps will be.
I wish I could share more hopeful news. The hardest thing we have been told is that the treatment Christian is receiving is not expected to cure this tumor. He is terminal. The doctors have explained that the goal is to ease his symptoms, slow the disease, and hopefully give us more time with him. We are also working with palliative care and hospice, even while Christian continues treatment, because we want to make sure he is comfortable and supported through every step of this fight.
When the doctor told Christian that this cancer will ultimately take his life, the first thing he said through his tears was that he didn't want to miss watching Gio and Lina grow up. π Those three have such a beautiful, close bond, and there is so much love between them. That moment broke my heart in a way I don't know how to explain. As his mom, there are no words to describe what it feels like to hear that your child wont have the future you always dreamed he would have. My heart is absolutely shattered.
But even through the fear and the heartbreak we are trusting in the Lord. We don't understand why this is happening, and we don't know what the days ahead will bring, but we believe God will carry us through whatever comes.
Please, please keep Christian in your prayers. πβ€οΈ Pray for comfort. Pray for strength. Pray for peace. And please pray for our entire family as we try to navigate something no family should ever have to face.
Every prayer, every message, every donation, every act of kindness, and every person standing beside Christian means more to us than I could ever put into words.
We are not giving up. We are taking this one day, one treatment, one prayer at a time. And we are trusting God with the rest. β€οΈπ
