Lisa was discharged from the hospital this afternoon and Carly was very excited to see her when she walked through the door at home (me too)!! Now comes the delicate transition for Lisa...being home affords her the familiarity of her own very comfortable bed, separate bedroom and bathroom space, and anything she wants to eat or drink, but she also faces the realities of having Carly want to spend a great deal of time with Mom (and the fact that Carly generally doesn't understand the term "gentle," especially when it relates to recovery from abdominal surgery).
We'll begin with some prayer requests:
We'll begin with some prayer requests:
- We're praising God that Lisa has come home with pretty good pain management while only using Tylenol!
- While we knew that some pancreatic fluid leakage was likely post-surgery, we had hoped that she would come home without needing a drain/tube coming out of her abdomen, that is not the case. And the soonest the drain will be removed now is when she goes back to see the surgeon on May 12. The dressing for the drain needs to be changed 4 times a day and is fairly painful and the tube itself easily catches on things like door knobs and other things. We're praying that May 12 comes quickly and that the drain CAN COME OUT that day.
- Lisa's appetite is "intermittent"-she isn't really hungry until she's suddenly really HUNGRY. Her appetite regulation may take a while to return to normal, especially with the fact that her intestines have been "asleep" for multiple days.
- We continue to pray for the full and speedy recovery of her pancreas and where her spleen used to be as well as the five incision sites.
Finally, we have many open slots for meals!
Praising God that she is home,
Larry
