Zech is back home and is doing much better after getting his wound cleaned up. The surgeon was able to take the skin that he needed to but everything inside was perfectly healthy, absolutely no sign of infection. Prayers for continued healing and no further signs of infection!

Kenosha County Deputies Reunite with Zech
Four-year-old Zechariah Byles recently suffered a serious injury during an accident at home. While recovering, he had one special request: he wanted to meet the Deputies who responded to his family’s medical emergency so he could give each of them a hug and personally say thank you.
Sheriff Zoerner joined Deputy Lyyski, Deputy Gursky, Deputy Ali, Deputy Schuler, Deputy Stanek, and Sergeant Beckstrom for a very special meet-and-greet with Zechariah and the Byles family.
“Zechariah’s courage, gratitude, and positive spirit left a lasting impression on all of us,” Sheriff Zoerner said. “Our Deputies were honored to be there for him and his family during their time of need. It was even more meaningful to return, see his smile, and let him know that his Sheriff’s Office family will continue cheering him on throughout his recovery.”
The Deputies did not arrive empty-handed. They brought Zech some awesome presents and plenty of Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office gear. The best part of the visit, however, was seeing his excitement, his smile, and his incredible spirit.
Although Zech was a little shy about all the attention at first, he quickly warmed up to everyone. Before the visit was over, Zech and his sisters talked our Deputies into trying to catch a chicken. Much to everyone’s surprise and amusement, Deputy Schuler successfully caught one! The adventure provided plenty of laughs and made the visit one we will not soon forget.
The Byles family is kind, caring, and remarkably positive. Their strength, close family bond, and outlook on life were evident throughout our visit.
Zech, you have a road of recovery ahead of you, but your courage and determination are already inspiring everyone around you. We have no doubt that you will overcome every challenge and excel at anything you set your mind to.
Good luck, Zech and the entire Byles family. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office is cheering you on every step of the way!
