Half way there! This week was number 8 of 16, we are officially half way through chemo!
But as much as that’s exciting, this is definitely been my “worst” week so far with side effects after chemo. I woke up Tuesday morning with an unexplained fever, so spent the late morning getting a chest x ray, labs and meeting with the doctors. Nothing was found, but still was a little scary. I have no immune system pretty much, so if I get sick there is nothing to fight off infections. A lot of the times, people get admitted to the hospital so that they don’t get worse. Luckily that didn’t need to happen, cause it was Chads birthday and I had the whole day planned since Tuesdays are my normal “good” days. My fever broke after taking Tylenol and didn’t come back. They told me since labs came back good, go on with my day and just monitor if anything else comes up.
Then Wednesday I woke up with nerve pain in my right arm and fingers. One of my chemo drugs can cause neuropathy, which is permanent nerve damage. I have it in both my hands and hurts to move my fingers. They will decide Monday during treatment if I need to skip a week or do half a treatment.
So all in all, not the best of weeks. I’m extremely tired. We did have a fun weekend celebrating Colson’s birthday and Halloween. I’m trying to maintain my normal life as much as I can- but it is getting harder and harder. I wish they could just do a scan now and see if the cancers gone, but they can’t (I asked 😂). I want to continue to be strong for my family but some days, it’s not easy. I have to thank everyone who has come to help so I can either nap, not make dinner, watch the kids, clean my house, etc. Im forever grateful. ❤️
I just gotta push forward and pray that next week is a better week!
