Well, wouldn't be a journey without a few hiccups!
Last week was supposed to be week 10, but we had to postpone treatment. I had been dealing with a lot nerve pain in my arms and hands and they weren't sure why it was happening. Dr. decided the best course of action was to skip the week to see if it got better without the chemo drugs. He also gave me a steroids to try to help with the pain.
The steroids helped SO much. It was amazing going from 3 hours of sleep to 7/8. It was nice to have the week off and not have any symptoms. But, I did run out of the 5 day steroid and it hit hard again with the pain. It literally is so bad, I wake up from it and can not go back to sleep. It radiates from my arms to my hand and fingers, and I can't move my fingers. It is honestly the worst pain I have ever experienced.
Today was started back up with week 10. We figured out the pain was inflammation of my nerves from the immunotherapy, not neuropathy from the chemo. He gave me a steroid to take for the next 3 weeks. Hopefully this will fix it! We also skipped the immunotherapy today.
It was great to have a normal week off, I am nervous to get back into it and see what symptoms I will have. I am really ready to be done. I am tired, exhausted and after the arm/hand pain, scared that it will come back or be permanent. But, the show must go on!
10 down, 6 to go.
