Well guys, I did it! 16 rounds of chemo, and I am finished! It’s been a week since that day, and I’m still dealing with some side effects but compared to last week, I am feeling way better.  I was so excited to ring that bell, and even better, I was surprised when they opened the doors and my babies were there to support me ❤️

I do have to go back every 6 weeks for immunotherapy, which happens to start next week. So wasn’t too much of a break, and I have high anxiety of side effects (though it shouldn’t be anything like the red devil, I’m still nervous cause you just never know!) The immunotherapy also made my nerves inflamed and they hurt so bad. So hopefully that doesn’t happen again. 

I also have a surgery date! March 12th and 19th. March 12th is my double mastectomy at Frodtert. I will stay the night and hopefully come home Friday. Then I go back the 19th to plastics for the expanders. I was confused and thought I was having the implants right away, but I will need the skin expanded for possibly 6/8 weeks before that can happen unfortunately. 

The tumor shrunk from 4.1 cm to 1.6 cm. They were really happy with those results! One thing that stood out was my lymph nodes also shrunk, so it’s possible that the cancer did spread to the nodes, but they will not know till surgery. Surgery also determines the rest of treatment. If I am not 100% cancer free at surgery- I may have to take chemo pills and do radiation. A lot of what ifs, and not going to stress about them till we have too! 

So the journey isn’t over yet! I am hoping by June this will all be coming to an end. August 13th is a year since being diagnosed. I am really hoping when we get to that date, I am cancer free! I’m ready to get back to normal life with my family and friends ❤️
