One Week Countdown

Here we go! One more week till the first surgery. And I would be lying it if I wasn’t scared. Not necessarily for the surgery itself, but for life after the surgery.

I had 5 appointments the last week for the surgery and it was a bit overwhelming. A lot of directions for cleaning before the surgery, things I can and can’t take 7 days before the surgery, and then the dreaded after surgery directions.

No lifting more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks.
4 drains (2 on each side) for a month
2-3 weeks of no driving.
And more but those really have me overwhelmed.

The surgery is at Frodtert, March 12th. We will find out the day before what time. The surgery is 4 hours long, and we are staying over for one night. Chad will be off for 8 days since my next surgery for expanders is the 19th.

If you know me well, you know I am hyper independent. It is really hard for me to ask for help, and I will do everything in my power to not ask. During chemo, I could just power through it, but some of the best of the best would just show up cause they knew I needed it, even without asking. But this is different. I won’t be able to lift things. Big one is my 3 year old. 😔 I won’t be able to lay down with any of my babies when they need me. We won’t be able to go anywhere unless I have help cause let’s be honest, my 3 year old isn’t the best listener at the moment. 🙃.  6/8 weeks is a long time.

I know this is a crucial step in my journey and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We also need to pray that the cancer had a complete response to the chemo, orherwise the ending of this journey could change a smidge (more chemo, radiation, more surgery) but well cross that bridge if it comes.

So, you might see some dates on here with needs (maybe driving a kid somewhere, help getting to appointments, come vacuum 😂)

I also want to thank everyone for their continued support and love. Next update will be after surgery! ❤️
