Lakeview Transition & Therapy:
- Adjusting Well: Austin is adjusting wonderfully to his new environment at Lakeview Specialty Hospital and Rehab!
- Active Therapy Schedule: He put in a lot of hard work today, completing Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy in the morning—where he was actively responding—and working with them again in the evening!
- Routine & Nutrition: He was awake from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM before resting up when told to get some sleep. The care team is adjusting his liquid meal intake, and he’s already gained about 3 lbs since checking into Lakeview.
Emotional & Physical Breakthroughs:
- Special Moment with Family: When his daughter Blakelyn came into the room, Austin turned his head toward her, and a tear came from his left eye. He was moving his mouth continuously as if he was talking directly to her and Autumn.
- Responsive Movements: He moved his head from side to side, squeezed with his left hand, and moved both feet when touched. He even moved his Mom’s hand to his lap again!
- Eye Tracking: His eyes were slightly moving and following along as people moved around the room.

Following Directions: A huge shoutout to his nurse, Nikki, who is absolutely wonderful! She talks to him, encourages movement, and took time to brush his teeth. When she asked him to close his mouth around the suction wand for the minty rinse, he followed commands and closed his mouth around it just like at the dentist!
Respiratory Milestone:

Off the Ventilator: Austin made incredible progress today, spending two separate 4-hour sessions completely off the ventilator!
Reminders & Upcoming Events:
- Visitor Policy: Please remember to continue holding off on visits as he builds up his strength and gets into his new therapy routine.
- Sept 26th – Ride With Austin Fundraiser: Join us at Rascals (2–6 PM) for hot dogs, $5 bracelets, and community love! Ride With Austin Event (not a ride, but a fundraiser at Rascals)
- Oct 10th – Stand with Austin Benefit Ride: Save the date! Details are coming soon, and we are currently collecting gift basket and raffle item donations.
Seeing him connect so deeply with his family and achieve major milestones off the vent gives us so much hope. Thank you all for your continued prayers and love!
