Location & Visitor Reminder:
- New Location: In case you missed yesterday’s update, Austin is now settling in at Lakeview Specialty Hospital and Rehab in Waterford.
- Visitor Policy: As he gets adjusted to his new routine and the team continues their evaluations, we kindly ask that visitors continue to hold off for now. We will be sure to let everyone know when he is ready for company!
Therapy & Physical Progress:
- Therapy Sessions: Austin was awake while we were visiting today and participated in both Speech Therapy and Physical Therapy!
- Responding to Commands: He squeezed hands when asked, and he even moved his right foot when his Dad moved his finger on it!
- Tracking & Focus: Therapists noted that his eyes were moving back and forth following their finger today. He also had his eyes WIDE open while listening to the video of Jackie of The Cherrypops dedicating and playing his favorite song.
Respiratory Progress:
- Off the Ventilator: Austin was completely off the vent twice today for 2 hours at a time!

New Weaning Strategy: The respiratory therapist shared that they are weaning him directly from full ventilation to breathing completely on his own—skipping the pressure support step entirely. He handled it wonderfully and did so well!

Ride With Austin Fundraiser (Sept 26th): Hosted by Jessie at Rascals from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM for hot dogs, $5 bracelets, and togetherness! Ride With Austin Facebook Event
Note: this is not a ride! Jessie wants to help out, so she is donating 1/2 of her tips, will have donation jars out and is selling bracelets to help Austin, his family and daughter! -
Stand with Austin Benefit Ride (Oct 10th): Mark your calendars for October 10th! Details are coming soon, and we are currently seeking gift basket and raffle item donations—please reach out if you’d like to contribute!
Note: this is a ride to different destinations (motorcycles, cars, mopeds, trucks, vans, etc)! Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join us!
