Major Respiratory Milestone:
- 8 Hours Off the Vent! Austin completed a full 8 hours of breathing on his own today completely off the ventilator!
-
Rest & Recovery: Breathing independently takes a huge amount of effort, and combined with some neuro storms (brain storming) today, he is naturally feeling pretty tired. Resting his body after such a big achievement is an essential part of the process.
Therapy & Physical Progress:
- Physical Therapy: His physical therapist did a full workout with him today, focusing on his feet, legs, hips, arms, hands, and shoulders to keep his muscles engaged and flexible.
-
Targeted Movements: He moved both of his feet, squeezed with his left hand, and was moving his mouth again as if he was trying to talk to us!
Reminders & Upcoming Events:
- Visitor Policy: Please continue to hold off on hospital visits so he can dedicate all his energy to these demanding therapy and breathing goals.
-
Sept 26th – Ride With Austin Fundraiser: Join us at Rascals (2:00 PM – 6:00 PM) for hot dogs, $5 bracelets, and community support! Ride With Austin Facebook Event
*Note: this is NOT a ride -
Oct 10th – Stand with Austin Benefit Ride: Save the date! Details are coming soon, and we are currently seeking gift basket and raffle item donations—please reach out to Chris or Michelle, if you would like to contribute or know any one that could help out with a donation.
Hitting 8 hours off the vent is a massive step forward in his recovery. Thank you all for your continuous prayers, strength, and love!
