Here is todayβs update on Austin:
Respiratory & Medical Progress:
Trach Mask: He was on the trach mask for 4 full hours today, and it went very well! They will continue increasing the duration each day as long as his breathing and vitals remain steady. We are currently waiting on the results of blood labs sent to check his oxygen levels.
- Brain Drain: The single remaining drain tube removed 13 mL of fluid in two hours, which is slower (lower) than yesterdayβa good sign that fluid buildup is slowing down & his body is doing what it needs to do to with the excess fluid.

Overall State: He had a good, stable day overall, and we saw rapid eye movement (REM) again today!
A Fun Little Touch:
Oh, and we forgot to mention... on Saturday, his mom, daughter and sister gave him a little spa treatment by trimming and painting his toenails! They painted them his absolute favorite colorβcan anyone guess what it is? π
