August 20, 2026 Update

What a encouraging day for Austin! 😊🎉

Today’s Wins:
-Hand & Arm Movement: Early this afternoon, Austin was squeezing our hand using his left fingers and thumb—and he even tried pulling his arm up a little bit! We are so, SO happy about this!

-Foot Movement: He moved his left big toe again, too!

A Little Personality: They brushed his teeth today, and he was not liking that whatsoever—he was biting down hard on the toothbrush!

Procedures & Care Updates:

-G-Tube Placement: This afternoon, he had surgery to place his G-tube. The procedure went very well with no issues at all.

-Trach Exchange: They also switched out his trach during the same procedure.

-Feeding: His tube feedings were restarted around 6:00 PM, and he is tolerating them really well.

Vitals & Next Steps:

All of his vitals remain completely normal and right in range. Tomorrow during the day, they plan to put him on a tracheostomy mask so his remaining sedation can wear off. Until then, he will stay on pressure-support ventilation.
