Breathing has settled down some, but still not getting full volume breaths. Our CO2 is high from breathing too shallow, but it is improved some from yesterday. Pseudomonas grew in our tracheal aspirate culture so he's being treated for that now. Docs aren't sure if he is actually infected or colonized. I asked why it would have shown up now and not earlier if he was colonized; the answer is basically because hospitals are infested with it.

They plan to treat for 5-7 days to see if it makes a difference in Asher's PIPs. We need to see lower PIPs for them to allow him to do any more breathing trials to consider extubation.

His foley was removed this morning and in true Asher fashion he peed on the nurse after she had just changed his bedding. They're going to start transitioning to bolus feeds to see how he tolerates them.

Our biggest prayer needs right now are for his PIPs to come down so he can get some breathing practice in, that he would have less disordered breathing, deeper breaths, and of course, for overall mind/body connections to be made so he can start coordinating some of these things we don't think about like breathing, swallowing, etc.

I long to see my boy smile at me, to hold my face in his hands and talk to me while he sits on my lap.  Our ABBA is able to do anything and we are waiting on Him.
