Help Angie & Adam After Major Accident
Late Day 18: Angie got all cleaned up (in bed) and all of her bandages changed yesterday. Adam and I are definitely not nurses. It took us over an hour for everything. At the end of last night, we were all beat. In other notes, Angie was sick of her hospital gown so we went to her closet and found a dress that we could get on her. She was very happy to be wearing real clothes!
Today was a bunch of phone calls for Angie. We called UAB to confirm her ortho appointment for tomorrow and were told she didn’t have one - even though it clearly shows on her 70+ page take home packet from ICU. She later called urology to see about getting her catheter removed and the lady there showed that Angie DOES have an appointment with ortho tomorrow. Someone created a second my chart account for her. By the end of business, ortho confirmed her appointment.
The wheelchair ramp came in today. This will make getting Angie in the van much easier. Tomorrow is the first time she needs to get out of the van as well - so the ramp came just in time.
Her appetite is strong. Her will is stronger.
We did also learn yesterday that, due to the damaged nerves along her humerus, it will probably be quite some time before Angie’s left hand/arm gets moving again.
We are hoping for a great appointment tomorrow!
