Help Angie & Adam After Major Accident
Today’s milestone: physical therapy appointment bright and early. Angie scooted her legs all the way to the edge of the bed and over the side. She needed a little help straightening up and then getting into her wheelchair from her therapist. She sat there for a bit and then he helped her back to bed. Then Adam took the reins and got her into the wheelchair. By the end of therapy she was beat but she did everything that she was asked. She even said last night that she wanted the therapist to help her sit up straight…. This is her being very proactive in her care. Her insurance only allows three PT appointments. Therapy will be once every two weeks as we continue to work with Angie as her therapist would much rather her have weight bearing allowed for her visits.
Between Angie’s Dad and myself, we have found some tops for her to wear. Everything has to tie on her. Not something we ever would have thought about before. They have to tie on her back and around her neck because her left arm cannot have a shirt put over it due to her injuries.
Today we ordered a wheelchair ramp for the van. Local companies who do transport for wheelchairs are laughable at best. Transport company #1 requires an application and then a 7-10 day turnaround time. Transport company #2 doesn’t transport in Birmingham. Both were recommended. At this point, it is easier to do it ourselves.
Nothing is scheduled for tomorrow.
Friday is her first visit to orthopedics! She has 42 staples in her arm and more at her pelvis. We do not know if these are going to be removed at the visit or if X-rays will be done. Adam saw one xray of her arm and quit counting once he got to 26 screws. Maybe they will tell us how many she has. Then again, maybe we don’t want to know.
Today’s photo was taken last night. Angie’s bed has been moved. She can see straight into their bedroom where Adam and Anaya sleep. Now that they are back home, the baby sleeps in their room with the bassinet and Adam gets up with Anaya for feeding. Soon we are hoping to move Angie back in the bedroom since they have a bed that the head and feet both raise and adjust.
