Zeke's Journey
Zeke, Zane, Jon and Zeke’s angels (see what I did there? Zeke’s angels instead of Charlie’s angels!?) ran in their first 5k together.
It was a success. Everyone had a good time and Zeke loved it. They hope to do another one again soon.
Jon loves to run, and Zeke likes to go fast. Zane will often bike or run with them. One day, someone mentioned to us about the dad who ran marathons with his special needs son. On further investigation, we found his name was Dick Hoyt. You can find their story here: https://www.inspiremore.com/dick-hoyts-powerful-legacy/
What really resonated with Jon was that Dick’s son, Rick, said ‘Dad when I’m running, it feels like my disability disappears’ - a sentiment that can bring any parent of a child with unique abilities to tears.
We had mentioned this to a few of our friends and they worked together with Ainsley’s Angels to get us this running stroller. Link here if you want to learn more - https://ainsleysangels.org/
Anyway, it was a wonderful experience and we are grateful we got to be a part of it. The race coordinator was so welcoming and supportive as our friend Kym worked with him.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge all the men and women who fought and died for our freedoms in this country. Bc of their blood and sacrifice, we are able to serve the Lord freely, run races and vote (just to name a few). And we recognize it was not just them that made the sacrifices but their families too. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
