Friends,

“If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at God you'll be at rest.”
― Corrie Ten Boom

This quote by Corrie ten Boom resonates so deeply this week. Both with what is happening in my immediate sphere, as well as the events that have taken place over the past several days/weeks on a larger scale.

I admit that this week I have had those moments I have looked at the world, the chaos and the heaviness and been very distressed. I have also had moments where I have looked within and become very depressed b/c I don't have the answers and I don't know where this ship is headed. It is truly only when I keep my eyes up on my Lord do I truly feel at rest. Even when it is still hurting.

I have loads of updates but I will try not to allow this to get too long and update again in a couple of days.

On Friday, we met with our endocrinologist. I clearly felt God's presence in this appointment when I found out that she knew Dr. Freeland - the functional doctor we decided to go to for Zeke! As a matter of fact, they are friends and Dr. Palau (our endo) was willing to call Dr. Freeland and collaborate. So this was a huge blessing. Dr. Palau also reported to me that she does see in his labs that his carnitine is low and would like for us to consider going to a doctor in Miami that specializes in metabolic issues. We will circle back around to this after our first appointment with Dr. Freeland and after all the new testing is completed.

We met with Dr. Freeland on Wednesday and I could weep with tears of joy. She listened so well. I felt very heard and understood. We have a very long history and it's hard to communicate it all sometimes but she read everything we sent ahead of time and she listened closely to our story. I am so grateful b/c she does have some new ideas - and some of the ideas also match what Dr. Palau was suggesting!

Our plan of action is this:
(1) Next Wednesday we are getting an OAT test done for him.
(2) Complete the Mitoswab which is a test that evaluates mitochondrial activity.
(3) Do a full scale genetic test.

So now, we focus on getting these items taken care of, and then we will have our next appointment with her and plan of care.

Side note - and another hug from God - remember our fav PICU doc, Dr. Barron? Dr. Freeland knows Dr. Barron and has worked with him frequently. I almost cried when I found out. God is on the move friends. I am so intrigued and excited to see the masterpiece that He is creating.

Well, that is a lot to read, so I will wrap it up for now, but next time I want to update you on our new therapists we have been working with, update you on the prep for Ability, update you on the safety bed :( and share how we could use support during the 3 weeks at Ability.

Thank you for walking with us, praying for us, financially supporting us and loving us through these mountain tops and valleys. We are so grateful.
