Mom/Kelsey had an appointment in Iowa City last week that included blood work. There were a couple of things that were off/unstable enough in that blood work that they opted not to start the next round of oral chemo until things straighten out/stabilize a bit. They will check her levels again in the coming week and decide what to do next. She has also continued to lose weight and strength. Dad/Wayne is looking into physical therapy and continues to work hard to support Mom/Kelsey's nutritional intake.

We just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has sent cards to the house over the last few weeks - and who will over the next couple of months. It really has been fun for Mom/Kelsey and Dad/Wayne. We also wanted to THANK everyone who has stopped by the house to sit with Mom/Kelsey (and Dad/Wayne)...and/or who has coordinated with Dad/Wayne to drop off food or groceries. This harvest season has definitely looked a different for Dad/Wayne (and the rest of the crew), but it's all getting done thanks to each and every one of you.
The days are getting shorter...and cooler. The trees are peppered with the colors of the changing seasons. I have never been someone who gets excited about fall in the ways that some do. (I think pumpkin spiced lattes are gross, haha!) This year, though, it just feels right. I am ready. 2024 has been a helluva year. Loss, illness, change, moving, more change...I think that in some ways I've coped with it all by leaning into the distraction of being busy, but moving into the slightly slower more reflective time of the year will be good.
Gratefully, there is space for it all...for speeding up and slowing down...for breaking down and building back up again...for asking questions and for finding answers...
Ecclesiastes 3 "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2 a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
3 a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace."

Oh, by the way I am not changing my mind on Pumkin spice anything. It just doesn’t do it for me but I will instead raise my cup of cidar to you all. Have a good Fall and I hope you are having beautiful like we are having in Michigan. Love you all. ❤️
