Road trip...
Wayne & Kelsey Ritscher
On top of all the time spent on the road to and from Iowa City each day, Mom/Kelsey and Dad/Wayne spent a little extra time on the road over the last week. They made a trip to Michigan to help their littlest grandbaby celebrate her 4th birthday and to watch her first dance recital (on the same day - whew!). They also made their way to Ames for a quick stop at Ellie's house! All of the travel has left mom a bit more fatigued than usual, but some of that is probably also the accumulated effects of the chemo and radiation. That said, watching her and Dad/Wayne light up around the grandkids is definitely worth it!
We're down to just 4 more radiation/chemo treatments for this phase of Mom/Kelsey's treatment plan. It is so crazy to think that just 4 months ago we were all together having the best fam-cation in Breckenridge, CO, and then 2 months ago we were sitting in the hospital waiting for her to undergo major brain surgery...and now we are here.
We continue to feel the love around every corner. THANK YOU so much for that. Since Mom/Kelsey and Dad/Wayne will be doing less running around for treatment in July, we're going to pause on updating the meal train calendar. If you feel compelled do to something, feel free to just text Dad/Wayne first. We may start that calendar back up in August when the next phase a treatment begins, but we will keep you posted.
I think the thing that continues to bring the greatest joy is the random texts over the phone or greeting cards in the mail. Dan the Cat even received a package this week, haha!! (Thanks, Erin!!)
Again, thank you so much for all of the love, prayers, thoughts, messages and support. Our village is amazing. You are amazing.
