On the evening of 4/16, Dad/Wayne brough Mom/Kelsey into Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids after some days of progressively worsening confusion and mood/personality changes.  If you saw Mom/Kelsey at all in late March or early April, you might have noticed her talking slower, struggling to transition from one task to another, or being sort of disoriented to time.

After a CT scan of Mom/Kelsey's head, it didn't take long at all for things to quickly swing into motion.  Mom/Kelsey was transferred to Iowa City to the University of Iowa Hospital where she underwent more tests.  On the morning of 4/17, the neurology/neurosurgery team confirmed that Mom/Kelsey had a roughly 5cm mass in the right/front of her brain and a roughly 1cm satillite mass in the left/middle of her brain.  She was kept in Iowa City until they could get her in the next available slot for brain surgery.

Mom/Kelsey had brain surgery on 4/23 where they removed as much of the large mass on her right/front side as they could safely.  She was discharged home on 4/25, and has been resting/healing/preparing for what's next.  "What's next" will be determined after the pathology report on the biopsy that they took from the mass that they removed comes back.

The amount of love, support, prayers and messages that have come pouring in for Mom/Kelsey and for our family during this have been unbelievable.  We are SO incredibly grateful to everyone for absolutely everything.  We know we didn't get every messaged responded to or get a thank you out for each bouquet of flowers, but please, please, please know they mean so much to each of us!
