Torvin's Life Changing Therapy
We want to share more about Torvin’s journey—not just HBOT, but everything that comes with it. These updates are about documenting his life, the challenges and the joys, and how we continually adapt our lives, work, and home to support him.
ABR (Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitation) remains a foundational part of Torvin’s care. ABR works directly on the fascia using vibration tools and requires hours of consistent, hands-on work. Torvin’s current ABR protocol takes about four hours a day, and we continue to see that the more ABR he receives, the better his body responds. This is one of the primary reasons we brought Kelby to New Orleans—
Alongside ABR, we are also very intentional about play therapy and movement-rich environments. We brought a trailer filled with mats and dog beds to create flexible, adaptive play spaces. —giving Torvin safe places to explore movement, pressure, balance, and transitions in ways that feel natural and engaging. In many ways, these spaces function like portable playgrounds, allowing therapy and play to coexist throughout the day.
We are not expecting HBOT to be a silver bullet. Instead, we are using it in hopes of gaining an edge—while we continue to build on the foundations of Torvin’s muscles and fascia through ABR and intentional movement. Research on HBOT and cerebral palsy shows better outcomes when it is paired with physical therapy, and our question has been: what happens when HBOT is layered onto the work we are already doing?
Recently, we saw something that stopped us in our tracks. Torvin easily slid himself off the couch onto the balls of his feet, turned, and cruised toward me while holding onto the couch and an ottoman. It wasn’t perfect—but there was a sense of ease we had never seen before. Historically, this movement has been a struggle. He often presses through the tops of his feet, which are tightly curled from tone. This time, he moved through the balls of his feet with noticeably less effort and more control.
Thank you for supporting not just a treatment, but the time, presence, and commitment it takes to give Torvin every opportunity to move forward.
