1st Chemo Infusion in the bag!

On Wednesday the 15th I had my first of many chemo and HER2 targeted therapy infusions. We were at the hospital for around 7 hours which was a very long day. Scott and my dear friends Kari and Aimee were with me for this first infusion. Kari and Aimee decorated my chemo cube with Christmas decor, including lights, a tree, and mini packages - they know how much a Christmas tree bring me joy. 💗

The chemo infusion itself was not nearly as bad as I cooked up in my head, nor was accessing my port ). What WAS awful was the damn cold cap, which can help me preserve about 50% of my hair. Is it worth the pain? Yes. I am already losing so many pieces of myself, if I can keep some of my hair, I want to try. Scott and I sure made a mess getting my hair prepped for that cap to go on 🤣.

I have felt surprisingly good in the days following my infusion, I have kept nausea at bay with the many meds, eating small meals and staying very hydrated. The fatigue is setting in and I am listening to my body for when to nap and just be still. Getting out each morning for a walk and getting some fresh air has helped with my mental health and keep some normalcy.

Staying positive and strong (with a few tears) is serving me well. I am still in awe of the support I have recieved from all of you, my heart is so full it could burst!

Thank you for walking beside me on this detour in life, I am stronger because of all of you. 💗💗💗
