All systems are go.
Today we got to meet with the surgeon, Dr. Riley, and Tim is the first surgery of the morning. We report at 5:00 and the surgery will begin at 7:00 a.m. The procedure should last 4-5 hours. Dr. Riley has assured us that the anesthesiology department will have Tim numbed up during the "awake" brain surgery and he won't feel a thing. Interesting point, the brain does not feel pain. It's all the other parts and pieces surrounding it that will be numbed. A speech pathologist will be present to ask Tim questions so they can detect if they are in area that affects his speech. Dr. Riley is hopeful that they will be able to extract the whole tumor. This is our prayer.
This opportunity came seemingly out of the blue, but the Lord knew. He's given us an incredible peace the past 1.5 weeks and my sweet friend will be keeping me occupied during the surgery.
A resection is much more invasive than Tim's LITT surgery last February. He will spend one night in ICU and a second night in a step down room. He will have a lot of staples and will return in 10-14 days for their removal.
I will post more info tomorrow. Thanks for all the texts and offers of help. We covet your prayers. Please pray specifically for the surgical team, a steady hand, total removal of the tumor, absolutely no side effects, speedy recovery, and continued peace.
Tim's mom came for a pre-surgery visit and I got a cute pic.
