Everyone, I have wonderful news for an update. After a week of his being completely unconscious, my darling, loving, sweet husband is awake. I walked in the door this morning to his ICU room, and he popped his eyes open and began to just wake up. Every other day, it's been such a painful visit, watching him struggle and all of the pain he was going through. Today, though he was in pain, believe me, he was working toward recovery. He spent over an hour proving he could breathe on his own, and they pulled his breathing tube. He then spent about an hour proving he could move enough to sit up in a chair. He can't exactly talk yet, he whispers and they want him to do that so carefully because his vocal chords were hurt from all the machines and tubes. But, he is whispering. He told me he loved me, he said all sorts of things, and all of it was sweet music to my ears. While that may not seem like a lot to anyone who is fine, for him, this was an all day process that he worked very hard to achieve. I came back just now, and am typing this as soon as I can. Celebrate with me, he's alive, he's awake, and God has blessed our family. No matter what the rest of this looks like, today is the best day I've had in 2 weeks. God is indeed merciful, kind and loving, and he put you in our lives. Your prayers really do work! Thank you so much for everything! Please keep praying, this is going to be a journey, and he could always use more prayer.
