UPDATE β€” August 7 at 1:48 PM: Surgery is complete, and everything went as planned. πŸ™β€οΈ We are waiting to hear directly from the neurosurgeon.

The doctors believe the tumor is cancerous and aggressive, but we will not have definitive answers until the final pathology and genetic testing are completed over the next several days. Tom will remain in the ICU for at least the next 3–4 days as he begins his recovery.

We believe in a wonderful, loving God who is carrying us through every moment of this journey. Even in the uncertainty, we trust Him. πŸ™

Thank you ALL for the incredible outpouring of prayers, love, messages, and support. Please continue to cover Tom and our entire family in prayer as we wait for answers and take the next steps together. β€οΈπŸ™

Wednesday, August 5th: A CT scan while at the Outer Banks (our favorite place on earth other than home) revealed a very large mass, approximately the size of a tangerine, on the right side of Tom’s brain. He was immediately transferred to Sentara Virginia Beach, where an MRI and further testing were done. The doctors believe the tumor may be a glioblastoma, but we will not have a definitive diagnosis until the final pathology comes back.

Yesterday morning, Tom was taken into surgery to safely remove as much of the tumor as possible. A preliminary biopsy was performed during surgery, but we know the final answers will take some time.

Anyone who knows Tom knows the kind of man he is. He is a best friend, the love of a lifetime to Kim, an incredible dad (to Taryn, Kristin, Jenna, & Angela) and Pop (to Kayleigh & Blake), Officer/Deputy Violette to our comunity, and truly the heart of our family. Seeing him wheeled away from us was one of the hardest things we have ever had to do. πŸ’”

Right now, we just need prayers. Lots and lots of prayers.

Please pray for Tom. Pray for healing and renewed strength as his body recovers. Pray for encouraging answers as we await the final pathology and genetic testing. Pray for wisdom for his doctors as they determine the next steps. And please pray for peace and strength for our entire family as we walk through whatever comes next.

Our faith is strong, our family is together, and we are taking this one moment at a time.

We all love you, Tom, and we have a whole lot more life to do with you. β€οΈπŸ™
