It has been 22 days since Uriel was detained. Please see our update below. Please continue to share our fundraiser and our story! Uriel is one of thousands of people going through this. Each person matters.

Today, we were hoping to share the news that Uriel was granted bond and would be on his way home. The reality is different. This morning, our lawyer informed us that the TX judge had denied bond and that Uriel is considered a "mandatory detention." According to the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, "Mandatory detention refers to a provision of the INA that states that non-citizens with certain criminal convictions must be detained by ICE.  People who are subject to mandatory detention are not entitled to a bond hearing and must remain in detention while removal proceedings are pending against them." We want to make it abundantly clear that Uriel has never committed a crime and therefore has no criminal conviction. This provision is being used as an excuse to keep people in detention. We have outsourced a lawyer dually licensed in CO/TX to work on filing a habeas petition which will allow Uriel to challenge his detention in court. The process is taking longer than expected and isn't ideal. For now, we are waiting until this motion is filed and approved in order to move forward.

Updates are not as frequent due to the process involving lots of waiting. We want to thank everyone for your prayers, contributions and offerings of support. They keep us going. We won't stop fighting for Uriel to come home. Thank you for standing with us.

We are sorry for the news after the decision of the authorities, but we trust that God, our highest authority, has more power than all. He can change every circumstance.
We trust in His grace and favor for Uriel. Everything is under His control. We pray for Uriel and his family, believing they will soon be reunited.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
