Monday afternoon we received the results of his MRI and the amazing news that the suspicious growth on his liver is a hemangioma (a cluster of blood vessels). It is not a concern and will be monitored through intermittent ultrasound and if it becomes an issue there is a medication that can help. We are so thankful as the very scary “c” word had been put out there in regards to the growth.
Tuesday morning at 7 am, he had more spots of blood in his stool. So to the ER we went and were admitted late afternoon for monitoring due to his history of pneumatosis. After a lot of bloodwork and some repeat X-rays pneumatosis was ruled out and they are thinking a side effect of his anticoagulation medication is to blame. While we were here they said they could get us in for a CT that he needed to check on any blood clots. The good news is that the CT showed no blood clots! So for now we are off of the anticoagulation medication unless any of his bloodwork comes back abnormal.
Unfortunately after coming back from CT his oxygen saturation dropped and he had a hard time bringing it back up on his own. So he got put on a small amount of supplemental oxygen and has not been able to come fully off of it yet. The doctors are looking for a physical reason for the need for oxygen. I think he got stressed out and overstimulated by his day yesterday. When you’re admitted every team that follows him has to come check in and wants to examine him as well as the many students that come with a teaching hospital. He endured many exams and was exposed to many different people talking around and to him. I’ve asked for only the absolutely necessary exams and for a low stimulating environment (hushed voices, less people in the room) to see if that will help.
Due to all of this, I’m sleeping in his hospital room as I want to be here to keep unneccesary people away from him. Jesse is holding down the farm at home. August is the busiest time of the year on the farm. He is in the height of heavy harvest and plantings for fall crops.
Prayer requests:
-Wilder to come off of oxygen and discharge to happen soon
-Wisdom for his medical team. The team in charge of his care are all new to me and Wilder and they have questioned a lot of things that his other teams were not worried about. So, I am
getting a little frustrated and really needing to advocate for Wilder.
-strength for this season we are in
