The Veek Family
We will be at the hospital for the rest of this week. They did an xray today and the pneumatosis is still gone. Despite that his team of doctors feels that giving his gut a full week of rest would be our best attempt at keeping this from occurring again. This was not the news we were hoping for, but we do just want him to get healthy and stay healthy.
The doctors are still unsure of the cause of the pneumatosis. They said frequently with things like this it’s hard to find a cause unless there is a clear event that came before it like a recent surgery. But that’s not the case for him. They did say that we caught it very early and that allowed us to get ahead of it before it got serious.
Today he underwent a procedure to place a PICC line so he can get better nutrition while he isn’t eating. That went well. This week the goal will be resting his gut, keeping him stable, and lots of cuddles.
Prayers for a stable week, continued healing, and strength for Jesse and I.
