Wilder’s Progress (6/20/26)

It’s hard to believe we have already been home for almost a week. Wilder is on a strict 3 hour feed schedule around the clock. This keeps Amy very busy as she sets up his feeds, pumps, monitors his feed, and then washes all the bottles, feeding tube supplies, and pump parts only to start all over again. Jesse is working long days and even most Saturdays this time of the year. But he is doing his best to learn Wilder’s care and take over some shifts so Amy can get some rest.

In addition to that another big job is preparing his specialized diet feeds and trying to get organized with all of his follow-up dr appointments and make sure nothing falls through the cracks as far as supports and therapies that need to be scheduled.

Our big purchase of the week was a bottle washer that washes, sterilizes, and dries. The amount of time saved with this is absolutely essential to our ability to get any sleep or rest right now. As well as a bouncer that we put him in for most of his feeds. The bouncer was a recommendation from the nurse and is currently our most used baby item. We are thankful for the many donations that have helped us make these necessary purchases without worrying about the cost.

Wilder is doing so well! He is so far a very content baby and only cries when he is hungry or needs to fill his diaper. During the night he sleeps almost 12 hours straight. We get up, put him in his bouncer, run his feed, change his diaper, put him back to bed and he typically doesn’t wake up for any of it. He is so precious and it is such a gift to be able to have him with use 24/7. We are thankful for every exhausted and precious moment.

Prayer requests:
-For Wilder to continue to grow stonger and healthier every day
-For continued strength for Jesse and I
-For peace and rest for our minds as we adjust to caring for a baby with medical needs. It’s so hard not to worry about every little thing.
