It's Kat's birthday! Today, she celebrated at home in jammies while working with Dad since Mom was sick. But we're exciting to have her party this weekend!

This day is such a celebration of how far she has come. It's definitely not the easiest day mentally, as memories of that Tuesday 2 years ago still haunt us, but seeing her smile and giggle makes everything worth it.

So today, let's celebrate her successes in the last year (& as a reminder, we were told none of this would ever happen):
- better food tolerating (still a pukey girl, but much less than before)
- positive weight gain
- opens her hands significantly more, almost always in a relaxed state
- more head control (still a work in progress, but less bobble-head)
- says so many new consonants (one of which resembles "dad") and makes more unique sounds!
- her eye focus has improved significantly, with less shaking or nystagmus happening!
- my favorite: her cochlear! This girl LOVES sound and her responses to noises are the best.

This past year, she has:
- visited the beach with Grammy & Grandpa TT
- gone to Disney with her cousins and Gigi & PopPop and met her new favorite character(s): Chip & Dale!
- travelled for her stem cell treatment to Mexico, although she returned with an unwanted souvenir: the flu
- become a big sister and has quite the sibling love/hate relationship with her brother
- received many new pieces of equipment: her stander, wheelchair, vibroacoustic beanbag chair, her Bumba chair, her Firefly seat.. all which help give her the opportunity to experience life to the fullest!
- started music therapy (FINALLY!)
and so much more!
This girl lives quite the life and we will forever continue to give her the most. She deserves the world.

Next year's plans? Continue proving everyone wrong!

Happy birthday to our chocolate loving little girl. You are so loved!
