Treatment plan

Today has been a whirlwind with a lot of doctor’s visits, information, and emotions. Here are the main points:

  • Andrew has been enrolled in a clinical trial that is studying a more precise type of radiation. He will do whole brain and whole spine treatment over 10 consecutive business days, starting July 17.
  • We are trying to get a chemo in before that starts, likely Wednesday, but there’s some question as to whether we can get discharged in time because…
  • Tomorrow Andrew will have a kyphoplasty, essentially injecting cement into his spine fractures to stabilize the vertebrae and relieve pain.

We’ve had a lot of candid conversations about Andrew’s treatment plan and overall prognosis. Central nervous system involvement is very rare and would suggest a timeline of months, provided chemo continues to work for a while longer.

That is hard to respond to, but Jesus has seen him through a lot of difficult medical situations so far. I pray he will continue to see him through one situation at a time. Love always

Andrew, you are a fighter like few others. You might be too young for the Rocky movies, but this old grandma can tell you that Rocky Balboa had NOTHING on you. God bless you! Praying for you through each procedure. May the Lord give you and your medical team wisdom to know when to fight and when to rest. This all sounds so hard on your body. One of my prayers of praise in my life's journey is Psalm 73:23-26 Our precious Lord is holding you by His right hand. He will certainly guide you with His counsel and then He will receive you into glory. The next verses are the song of my heart continually --- Whom have I in heaven but You. There is nothing on earth I desire besides You. My flesh and my heart may fail; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever!

Every day held. Every day valued. Every day ordained by the hands that created the earth. Confusing yet healing. Anguish awash with the peace that passes understanding. Praying with you and for you, trusting the greater plan we'll all one day understand.
