The Stallard Family
It was a busy weekend for us. As soon as Devin picked Abigail and me up from the airport on Saturday, we grabbed lunch and then stopped by Walmart to pick up a few things. Once we got home, we finished reorganizing the kitchen—we had started it before my trip, and it felt good to finally finish.
On Sunday, we went to church, and later that evening I went to get a haircut. I ended up cutting 12 inches off. My hairstylist mentioned I had enough to donate, and I knew right away I wanted to. I’ll be donating it to children with alopecia. This decision feels personal because Abigail was recently diagnosed with alopecia. We’re currently waiting to hear back from the hair loss clinic in Boston to get her appointment scheduled. For those who may not know, Devin and his mom also have alopecia, so it does run on his side of the family.
Yesterday, Abigail had her annual endocrinology appointment at the University of Virginia to monitor her growth. The doctor shared that she has grown over 8 inches in the past year, which is amazing news.
Also, as of yesterday, for the first time in her life, Abigail is no longer being fed overnight. She is now eating breakfast, lunch, dinner, and two snacks during the day—just like you and I would. Devin and I truly thought this day might never come, but thanks to the team in Boston, we were able to get her off her night feeds. This is such a huge milestone for her and for our family.
Devin also started working at a new data center yesterday. It’s a little closer to home, and he said everyone has been welcoming so far.
I can’t believe May is almost over and we’re already just 11 weeks away from Abigail’s surgery.
