We wanted to share a quick update about Abigail’s medical care and ask for your continued prayers and support.
Abigail has two insurance plans — her primary through Devin’s employer and secondary through Medicaid (Humana). We were recently notified that Humana has approved 50 hours of private duty nursing per week for Abigail, which is a huge help and something we had with her previous Medicaid provider.
We’re also thankful to share that Humana has agreed to cover Abigail’s upcoming procedure at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia) this October — a huge answer to prayer.
However, the challenge we’re facing now is that this approval is currently only for the October procedure. Abigail is expected to need multiple procedures in the coming months, leading up to a major airway reconstruction surgery next spring if everything goes as planned. So far, Humana has not approved coverage for those future out-of-state treatments.
Devin and I spoke with our primary insurance, and they said they will cover 80% of the medical expenses out of state. But if Humana doesn’t cover the remaining 20%, we’re looking at up to $50,000 out of pocket — something we simply cannot do alone.
We’re asking for your continued prayers, donations, and most importantly, that you share our story with others. Every bit of help brings us closer to getting Abigail the care she needs and deserves.
Thank you for standing with us through this journey. ❤️
