Healing Continues, But Today Was Hard

Yesterday, Abigail went back to the OR. The surgeon shared some encouraging news—her graft is healing well, and her airway is also showing good signs of healing. Because her airway is so complex, he plans to take another look sometime this week to make sure everything continues to progress as it should.
Today, however, was a really hard day for Abigail. The team attempted to take her off sedation so she could wake up, but she quickly showed us she wasn’t ready for that yet. She became very agitated—thrashing, crying, and clearly uncomfortable. The ICU team tried several approaches to help calm her, but nothing was working well.
They ultimately had to place her back on a sedation medication to keep her asleep, because whenever she became extremely upset, her oxygen levels would drop as low as 30%, which is very dangerous.
It was difficult for Devin and me to watch her go through that. Seeing her so distressed and not being able to comfort her the way we want to is hard.
Please continue to pray for Abigail—and our family. We feel them, and we are so grateful for the support.
