Abigail got discharged from the hospital this morning!

Yesterday was a full and busy day. In the morning, the hospital clowns came to visit Abigail in her room, and she really enjoyed it—though we discovered that Gunnar is not a fan of clowns at all.

Speech therapy also stopped by to continue working with Abigail, and it’s been encouraging to see her keep making progress.

Around 1 PM, Abigail was taken back to the OR so the surgeon could check her airway and how it’s healing. We are so thankful to share that both her airway and graft are healing well. The surgeon was very pleased with her progress and how the surgery went overall. He told us that now she just needs time to continue healing, and as she does, her voice should gradually come back.

The plan is for the surgeon to take another look at her airway in the OR in about two weeks.

We also learned that the ENT surgeon and the maxillofacial surgeon met on Thursday to discuss Abigail’s next steps in treatment. This upcoming week will be another busy one with several outpatient appointments, along with a meeting with the plastic surgeon where we’ll learn more about the plan moving forward.

We are so grateful to be out of the hospital and to see Abigail continuing to heal. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support—it truly means so much to our family.
